Ashwin Gopinath was an Assistant Professor at MIT, working at the intersection of CMOS nanofabrication, molecular self-assembly, biology, and machine learning.

Prof. Gopinath earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Boston University, and subsequently worked as a research scientist at Caltech and Google [X].

He has co-authored over 21 papers in journals including Nature, Science, and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

He was awarded the 2017 Robert Dirk Prize in Molecular programming for his contributions to merging DND nanotechnology with conventional semiconductor processing.

In the summer of 2024, he announced his departure from the MIT faculty, but attained a visiting scientist appointment in order to continue his important research.
