Sciences of Materials for Extreme Environments

SRA-2 focuses on the formulation and characterization of four material constructs that show promise for exhibiting structural, protective, and other high functionality properties. These materials are superelastic ceramics, nanofiber-reinforced ceramics, 3-D micro- and nano-architected materials, and 2-D polymers previously thought impossible to synthesize.
